How it works
Every week we read the public IRONMAN race calendar and each race's race-week and directions pages. Where a race publishes map links for athlete check-in, the expo, transition, swim start or finish, we resolve them to exact coordinates.
Hotels, guest houses, hostels and bike shops come from OpenStreetMap. For every race we list up to 60 stays within 12 km and 20 bike shops within 30 km, then measure the straight-line distance from each one to each venue.
What the distances mean
Distances are straight-line. Walking estimates assume roads add about a quarter to the distance and a 4.8 km/h pace. On race morning, road closures and shuttles matter more than a few hundred metres, so read the race's traffic and parking notes.
When something is wrong
If a race moves its expo or transition, the change shows here after the next weekly refresh. If a map link on the official page points somewhere far from the race, we leave it out and say so on the race page. To fix a hotel or shop listing, edit it on OpenStreetMap.
Independence
TriRaceWeek is not affiliated with IRONMAN. Sponsored placements, if we ever add them, will be labelled and will never change the distance ranking.
