Advertising on TriRaceWeek
Effective 2026-10-21. TriRaceWeek carries a small number of direct-sold ads for products and services triathletes use around race week. This policy applies to every advertiser, including Point8, which is made by the person who runs TriRaceWeek. Contact: ads@triraceweek.com.
Our guarantees to readers
- Ads never change the hotel or bike shop rankings, which are by distance only. Every build checks that the ranked table is identical with and without ads.
- Every ad is labelled in text: "Sponsored" for paid ads, "Ad" plus an ownership line for ads from businesses connected to TriRaceWeek.
- Ads sit between sections, never inside the hotel table, the map or the bike shop list, and look different from listings.
- No ad networks, ad scripts, ad cookies, tracking pixels or device storage. Ads are chosen by the race page, not by the reader.
- At most one ad per page section; no pop-ups, sticky ads, autoplay, animation or video.
What we accept
Products and services relevant to triathletes and race travel: bike transport and shipping, coaching and training platforms, nutrition and hydration, swim and race gear, bike shops and mechanics near races, accommodation near race venues, race-week services, and destinations hosting races.
What we don't accept
- Gambling, crypto and financial speculation, political or issue ads, adult content, weapons, tobacco or vaping.
- Health or performance claims that can't be substantiated; medicines, unapproved supplements or weight-loss claims.
- Use of IRONMAN, IRONMAN 70.3, 5150 or M-Dot marks or logos, or any wording implying endorsement by or affiliation with a race organiser ("official", "partner") unless that is true and documented.
- Tracking pixels, third-party scripts, or landing pages that install malware or mislead.
- Ads that target or appeal to children.
We can refuse or remove any ad at any time.
How ads are targeted
By page only: race, distance (full, 70.3, 5150), race country and region, race month, weeks to race day, and course tags (hilly, heat, humidity, cold-water, altitude). No targeting by person, device history or location.
Creative specification
Ads are native cards rendered in TriRaceWeek's own styling, light and dark mode, from text fields you supply. You don't supply banners or HTML.
| Field | Limit | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Headline | 60 characters | Wraps, never truncated. Tokens allowed: {race}, {race_short}, {weeks}, {distance}, {country}. If a token makes it too long on a race, that creative is skipped there. |
| Body | 140 characters | Same token rules. |
| Button label | 20 characters | Shown as a button; the whole card is clickable. |
| Logo (optional) | 96–120 px square, WebP/PNG/JPG, 40 KB max | Hosted on our domain; alt text required; shown on a white tile; hidden on phones. |
| Destination URL | https only, on your approved domain | We add the tracking tags below. |
The label chip and the disclosure line are added by TriRaceWeek as live text; don't repeat them in your copy. Creative is static: no live counters or prices that can go stale.
Links and measurement
Ad links open in a new tab with rel="sponsored noopener" and carry utm_source=triraceweek, utm_medium=display, utm_campaign (campaign), utm_content (creative and slot), utm_term (race) and race (race). We count an impression when at least half the ad is on screen for one second, and clicks, only for readers who allowed analytics, so our numbers are a minimum. Reports are monthly totals by creative, slot, race and day. Some race pages are held out without ads to measure their effect on the site.
Buying an ad
Ads are sold per race page per month, by region or distance bundle, or as a site-wide sponsorship. Every paid placement runs under a signed insertion order. Email ads@triraceweek.com.
